Bird’s new store, located at the Olympic Theater in Los Angeles, upholds Bird’s practice of nurturing historical essence through keeping the buildings unique quirks and essence.

Concept Project

The Brand
Bird is Brooklyn’s premier fashion destination, embodying the borough’s creative spirit since 1999. Bird promotes strong eco-conscious ideals through community partnerships and endeavors. A majority of boutiques are located in New York City and is aiming towards opening more in Los Angeles. Bird owner, Jen Mankins, believes in keeping the historical essence of buildings, quirks and all.

The Strategy
In translating the company’s ideas and philosophy, I decided to choose the Los Angeles Olympic Theater as the new location. In keeping its historical essence, all of the fixtures would be refurbished. To help keep the building itself intact, Bird would have a clothing line in which part of its proceeds would go to the California Preservation Foundation. The line, Olympic Line, would run each season and a designer hosted by the store would be in charge of the creation for the season
